Designed Around Escape, Not Technology

Certain projects come through advertising, while others begin with a quiet word from someone whose opinion you trust: “Call these people, they’ll understand what you’re after.”

This Palm Beach Gardens waterfront home was designed to feel like a true escape from the homeowners’ primary residence. Instead of centering the home around technology, the goal was to create an environment that felt calm, comfortable, and easy to live in every day whether entertaining guests, relaxing by the water, or spending time inside the theater and entertainment spaces.

After becoming frustrated with the original direction of the project, the homeowners were introduced to Johnny and the team at Integrated Architech through a personal referral. Integrated Architech is a Greenville-based smart home integration firm with more than 12 years of experience designing and deploying luxury residential automation systems for select clients across multiple states, with much of the company’s work coming through long-standing relationships and word of mouth rather than traditional advertising.

The project combined Crestron home automation, Lutron HomeWorks lighting and shading control, Ketra lighting, enterprise-grade networking, JBL Synthesis theater systems, Coastal Source outdoor audio, surveillance, and whole-home entertainment systems designed to work together quietly in the background without disrupting the architecture or daily living experience throughout the home.

Design Objectives for Everyday Living

Throughout the property, the focus was never on adding technology for the sake of technology. Every part of the system was designed to support how the homeowners wanted to use the space day to day.

The project centered around several core priorities:

  • Creating a comfortable waterfront retreat designed around relaxation and entertaining

  • Integrating Crestron automation, Ketra lighting, and Lutron shading systems without disrupting the architecture of the home

  • Simplifying everyday living through unified control and one-touch scenes

  • Designing immersive JBL Synthesis theater and racing simulator environments

  • Maintaining clean sightlines through recessed shades and hidden infrastructure

  • Building reliable outdoor entertainment systems capable of handling Florida waterfront conditions

Environmental Conditions & Design Challenges

A waterfront property of this size introduced a very different set of challenges than a traditional smart home installation. Humidity, salt air, heat, and long-term outdoor exposure all played a role in how the systems throughout the property were designed.

Outdoor audio, lighting, displays, and networking infrastructure all required products capable of maintaining long-term reliability in high-humidity conditions without compromising the clean aesthetic of the home itself. Coastal Source outdoor audio and lighting systems played an important role around the waterfront areas, while weather-resistant infrastructure and centralized low-voltage routing helped protect long-term system performance throughout the exterior spaces.

Inside the residence, recessed Lutron shading systems, hidden infrastructure, integrated Ketra lighting scenes, and clean architectural sightlines required careful coordination between technology, architecture, and finish work throughout the home.

The project also required large-scale infrastructure supporting enterprise-grade networking, distributed audio and video, surveillance, centralized Crestron automation, and dedicated theater engineering working together across the property behind the scenes.

Project Solutions

These are the soltions that completed this project

Lighting, Atmosphere & Outdoor Living

One of the biggest transformations throughout the property happens after sunset. Instead of relying on harsh exterior fixtures or overly bright lighting, the Ketra lighting and landscape systems were designed to create warmth and depth while allowing the architecture and waterfront surroundings to remain the focus.

Full-color landscape lighting plays a major role throughout the outdoor gathering areas and waterfront spaces, shifting depending on how the property is being used throughout the evening. Whether entertaining outdoors or relaxing quietly by the water, the lighting was designed to complement the environment rather than overpower it.

Inside the residence, Ketra lighting and recessed Lutron shading systems were integrated through Crestron automation to simplify how different spaces transition throughout the day. Lighting levels, shades, and room scenes can all adjust instantly through one-touch control without requiring multiple remotes or complicated interaction.

The result creates a much calmer and more comfortable experience across both the interior and exterior living spaces while allowing the technology itself to remain largely hidden throughout the home.

Everyday Living & Entertainment

The systems throughout the property were organized around how the homeowners actually use the space day to day. Different areas of the home were designed to support different experiences depending on whether the environment was focused on entertaining, wellness, or immersive entertainment.

Private Theater

The private theater was designed as a dedicated space to disconnect from the outside world. A JBL Synthesis surround sound system, JVC projection, and carefully engineered lighting control work together to create a cinematic environment that feels immersive while remaining simple and comfortable to operate.

Racing Simulator Spaces

The racing simulator environments introduced a more interactive entertainment experience while still remaining consistent with the overall feel of the home. Integrated video, audio, lighting, and control systems allow the simulators to feel responsive and immersive without separating the spaces from the larger design of the property.

Outdoor Entertainment Areas

The outdoor entertainment areas were designed around both everyday use and larger waterfront gatherings. Coastal Source landscape audio systems provide balanced sound coverage throughout the exterior spaces while remaining durable enough for long-term waterfront exposure and Florida humidity conditions.

Outdoor audio, lighting, and entertainment systems were carefully integrated to maintain consistent performance between the exterior gathering areas and the interior living spaces throughout the property.

Whole-Home Audio

Distributed audio throughout the home allows music to move consistently between indoor and outdoor spaces while maintaining balanced sound coverage from room to room. Rather than overpowering conversations or distracting from the environment itself, the system was designed to support daily living quietly in the background.
